BIG FOOT SIGHTINGS?

The folklore about the Lemurians is definitely part of the history of Mt. Shasta. But has Bigfoot resided on the slopes of this giant mountain?

Sightings of Sasquatch or Bigfoot, the gorilla shaped figure, tall with a hairy brown or reddish body, were first recorded around 1840 in Spokane, Washington. The Indians claimed that these hairy giants stole Salmon and had a terrible odor. In 1893 Theodore Roosevelt published a story told to him by an old mountain man living in Idaho of seeing Bigfoot in The Wilderness Hunter.

Since that time sightings have gone on for years. Sasquatch has allegedly been seen all over the Pacific Northwest. He has been as close to Mt. Shasta as Eureka, California and as far away in 2007 as the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. When the Pennsylvania Game Commission took a look at the pictures of Bigfoot, they announced that it was a bear with a severe case of Mange.

Skeptics of the theory that a large ape-like creature lives in North America sight the fact that Apes in general live in more temperate climates such as Africa and continental Asia. There have never been fossils found in North America that belong to an Ape-like creature of such huge dimensions.

But there have been some educated proponents defending the existence of Bigfoot. Jane Goodall gave an interview in 2002 saying that she was sure that they exist. She said she had talked with numerous Native Americans who all describe the same sounds, and two who have seen Bigfoot.

Whether you believe in Sasquatch or not, it is fun to imagine this hairy creature running through the woods, leaving enormous footprints in the snow. He must be a gentle creature because no one has ever reported an attack. He is probable sitting in a cozy cave grinning from ear to ear because we will never know for sure if he is a forklore, a figment of our imagination, or if he truly exists.

Is this creature the same as the Yeti?

Recently, there was a sighting in Connecticut; a fuzzy picture, but police later said it was the same thing - a bear with mange! I guess there's a lot of mangy bears!

Do you know where I could find that Jane Goodall interview?
